This Diamondback was four or five feet long. That's as big as I've seen in New Mexico, though I have seen photos of bigger ones. It gave me the customary warning, and I jumped back the way I had come. I was only able to get off a couple shots with the digital before it slithered into a hole in the rocks.
I spend much of my time making photographs, usually with old film cameras. A move to Albuquerque at the beginning of 2008 has given my photo work more of an urban character.

Framing and composition is perfect, too my eyes. Geez that snake looks a little close and ready to strike! but I'm guessing you made it out alright?
