Whenever I'm making pictures around the house I often devote the last few shots on the roll to images of my cat, Ruthie. Pretty often, I end up liking those unplanned pet portraits better than what I had originally set out to photograph.
I still tend to think of Ruthie as being a kitten, but she was born to a feral mother in our backyard soon after we moved to Albuquerque, so she is near ten years old now. Where does the time go?

This was a nice bit of blog to start my day! Thanks for sharing!
While my dogs were still alive I used to burn off the last few shots on them. Now I don't have such a convenient subject and when I want to burn off the last of a roll I'm at a loss!
I've never had a lot of luck with dog pictures. Cats are much easier to photograph, I think, because they know they are in charge of their domain.
There were two litters of feral mother cats born at the same time in our back yard. Given the choice I would have chosen one of Ruthie's short-haired siblings, but they were all quickly adopted. Ruthie got left behind; she was the last captured and shy of people as a result. She is very friendly with me now, but still cautious of visitors.
